The Zela Vessel from Twenty Third by Deanne takes the ancient art of pottery in a wonderfully strange direction. Handcrafted by Indonesian artisans, its tall, abstract silhouette features an open center, gently irregular curves, and a deeply textured chocolate-brown finish that gives the whole thing a rich, earthy character. At nearly two feet tall, Zela has enough presence to anchor a console or entryway without requiring much assistance from the surrounding décor. Its sculptural shape plays beautifully with light and shadow, while the handmade surface adds the sort of subtle irregularity that makes an object worth examining from more than one angle.
