Harper the Label’s Offset Sling takes the hands-free usefulness that made the belt bag impossible to kill and gives the whole thing considerably more thought. Folded panels of vegetable-tanned leather create its asymmetrical, sculptural shape, designed to soften and contour more closely to your body the longer you wear it. Inside, there’s room for the actual essentials:  phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, the miscellaneous small objects that apparently follow us everywhere. A concealed zipper keeps everything secure, while the long adjustable strap lets you find the position that works for you. The leather burnishes, darkens, and picks up character along the way, because a bag designed to be carried should probably look better once you’ve actually carried it. The unusual shape provides enough visual interest to carry an outfit, while the absence of logos, chunky hardware, and unnecessary embellishment means you'll still want to wear it after the current bag cycle moves on to whatever we're all apparently supposed to want next.

About the Brand:  Harper the Label

Claire Harper designs bags by thinking surprisingly little about other bags. The artist and leatherworker founded Harper the Label in 2020, designing each piece from her Oakland studio and looking to architecture, ceramics, clothing, knots, folds, and pleats for ideas about what leather might do next. The resulting bags are minimal without being anonymous, sculptural without becoming impractical, and intentionally made to change as they're used. Materials are chosen with the same level of scrutiny:  vegetable-tanned, Leather Working Group-certified leather, ethical U.S. production, and construction intended to become a modern heirloom rather than next season's donation. Because perhaps the most sustainable bag is the one you still genuinely want to carry ten years from now.
