Each spoon has its own shape and natural marbling of deep brown, honey, and tan, so no two arrive exactly alike. At 9.5 inches long, it’s made for stirring sauces, scrambling eggs, stealing a taste directly from the pot, and gradually acquiring the little marks that distinguish your wooden spoon from every other wooden spoon. Some kitchen tools become obsolete. Others just get better at being themselves.
