The past benefits enormously from our inability to remember all of it.
Summer of 1987 smells like the parts worth keeping. Tart rhubarb and ripe fig open bright and juicy, followed by violet, citrus, and warm amber before cedarwood and soft cashmere settle in underneath. It’s fruity without smelling sugary, nostalgic without requiring you to have actually been alive in 1987 (even though maybe you were), and warm enough to capture that particular feeling of a summer evening when nobody is quite ready to go inside. Light it when the windows are open, when friends are staying later than planned, or when the present could stand to borrow a little selective memory from the past. Were summers actually better then? Almost certainly not. But nostalgia has never been especially interested in accuracy.

About the Brand: LIT LÁB CO.
LIT LÁB CO. operates on the fairly persuasive theory that changing how a room smells can change how the room feels. The brand creates fragrance for homes, hotels, cafés, and other spaces where atmosphere is doing more work than anyone admits. Its scents are layered, intentional, and designed to live in a space rather than assault everyone who enters it. Because the difference between “the living room” and “the living room at 8 p.m. with a candle burning” is technically just fragrance and fire, yet somehow we continue to fall for it.
