British Colour Standard has built an entire design world around the radical proposition that everyday objects don't have to be visually apologetic. It started when founders Jackie Piper and Victoria Whitbread discovered an original 1930s British Colour Standard dictionary tucked away in an Oxfam shop and decided its wonderfully specific archive of historic colors deserved another life. Today, those rediscovered shades appear across candles, tableware, textiles, and objects for the home, with an emphasis on thoughtful materials, Fair Trade craftsmanship, and responsible production.
