The best everyday earrings eventually become part of your face.
Sheena Marshall’s Palmer Arch Threader Earrings are a very good example. A slender line of 14k gold fill curves gently through the ear, creating a small sculptural arc that feels interesting without requiring the rest of your outfit to acknowledge its existence. At just three-quarters of an inch long, they’re subtle enough to become the pair you put on without thinking and distinctive enough that doing so never feels particularly boring. Each curve is formed by hand in Sheena’s Denver studio and finished with a silicone backing to keep everything where it belongs. Wear them with jeans, something complicated, or the same black sweater you’ve worn three times this week. The earrings aren’t going to judge the repetition. They’re probably going to make it look intentional.

About the Maker: Sheena Marshall Jewelry
Making simple jewelry is probably harder than making complicated jewelry. There’s nowhere for a bad decision to hide. Sheena Marshall seems comfortable with the risk. From her Denver studio, the designer and metalsmith makes jewelry from little more than lines, curves, circles, and the occasional beautifully considered bend, forming each piece by hand in small batches. The restraint is intentional. Rather than designing jewelry for hypothetical cocktail parties and other events your calendar insists you attend far less frequently than advertising would suggest, Marshall makes pieces for regular Tuesdays: the earrings you leave by the sink, the necklace you put back on after a shower, the ring that eventually feels strange when it isn’t there. Materials are chosen with longevity in mind, including 14k gold fill that offers considerably more actual gold than conventional plating. The designs are quiet, but not anonymous.
