Oyster Stud Earrings | 24K Gold Plated

Pearls have always been weird. These remember why.

The Oyster Studs from Tillydoro return the pearl to something resembling its original surroundings. Each earring begins as a tiny hand-fabricated cup, irregular and shell-like, finished in 24k gold plate with a small faux pearl tucked inside. At only about a third of an inch across, they’re delicate enough to feel almost accidental, like two miniature objects discovered somewhere rather than designed to match perfectly. And because each pair is made by hand and made to order in Brooklyn, slight variations are part of the arrangement. Turns out perfection was never really the interesting thing about pearls anyway.

Tilly Doro began with founder Nogah Rotstein’s grandmother Tilly, who believed nothing should be wasted and that the best gifts were the ones somebody actually made. Rotstein took that philosophy rather literally, transforming recycled metals, deadstock, and repurposed materials into jewelry shaped by nature, old symbols, asymmetry, and the occasional happy accident. Turns out “waste not” is also a pretty good design philosophy.
