A notebook for people who still believe some thoughts deserve to be written down before the internet gets involved.
The Oak Brown Journal from Studio Variously is a beautifully considered place for whatever happens to be occupying your brain, from ambitious plans and brilliant ideas to the occasional grocery list that somehow includes only cheese. Its handwoven cotton cover features an earthy brown geometric pattern, printed by hand using traditional wax block-printing techniques and natural dyes. Inside, 100 pages of handmade, wood-free paper offer a wonderfully tactile alternative to the suspiciously perfect pages of an ordinary notebook.
Each journal is cut, stitched, and assembled by artisans in India using zero-waste principles and alternative natural fibers. The result has the satisfying character of something made slowly, with subtle variations that make every copy a little different. Perfect for writing, sketching, collecting observations, or finally beginning that novel you've been mentally outlining since 2018.

About the Maker | Studio Variously
Founded by designer Anjali Purohit, Studio Variously works with skilled artisans in India, Nepal, and Peru to create thoughtfully designed goods using traditional techniques, natural fibers, and a rather impressive amount of patience. With a design background spanning New Delhi and Milan, Purohit brings a contemporary perspective to centuries-old craftsmanship, producing pieces that feel both familiar and unexpectedly interesting. It's a refreshing approach in a world where we've somehow convinced ourselves that making everything faster is the same as making everything better.
