Humanity has spent several thousand years trying to explain love. Turns out we maybe should have asked a gardener.

Love Grows Everywhere by Barry Timms and Tisha Lee follows a family who grows plants, sells them at the neighborhood market, and has apparently noticed something the rest of us have been making unnecessarily complicated:  love behaves a lot like a garden. There’s the old, established kind. The brand-new kind. The kind between parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Some of it shows up easily. Some requires patience. And occasionally there’s a new kid standing off by himself, and somebody has to decide whether to cross the distance. Timms tells the story in gentle rhyme while Lee fills the pages with lush, wonderfully crowded illustrations of plants, people, homes, and a community where affection seems to be growing in every available crack. It’s a fairly ambitious theory of human connection for a board book. The annoying part is that it makes a lot of sense.
