There is no practical reason for a sleeve to require this much tulle. Fortunately, practicality has plenty of other shirts. Joie starts with a simple black top and then devotes nearly all available drama to the sleeves, layering sheer tulle into oversized puffs that make the rest of the design look almost suspiciously well behaved. The monochrome palette keeps all that volume surprisingly wearable, while the contrast between the straightforward body and unapologetically excessive sleeves is what makes the whole thing work. It’s theatrical without requiring an occasion, which may be the best argument for owning something theatrical in the first place.
