Curves, crevices, and absolutely no intention of explaining itself.
Handcrafted in Indonesia from terracotta clay, the Java Vessel from Twenty Third by Deanne has a wonderfully peculiar silhouette, with rounded, stacked curves, sculptural indentations, and a deeply textured black glaze. Its dark, organic finish gives it the appearance of something that's been around for centuries, even though its bold proportions feel entirely at home in a contemporary interior. Made by skilled Indonesian artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations, each vessel carries the subtle irregularities of the handmade process. At nearly ten inches tall, it has enough presence to stand on its own, whether displayed on a console or a bookshelf. Add a few dried branches if you're feeling botanical, although the shape makes a pretty convincing argument for leaving it exactly as it is.
