Somewhere along the way, we decided everything used for cleaning should be ugly enough to require its own closet.

PUEBCO’s Hand Broom makes a fairly compelling argument against that arrangement. Made from natural millet fibers in a traditional whisk-broom shape, its long, slightly unruly silhouette handles the small messes that don't warrant hauling out something with a power cord. Crumbs under the table, dirt by the door, whatever happened while cooking dinner. The green-tinted fibers turn an ordinary cleaning tool into something you can happily leave hanging from its built-in loop, which is convenient because that's also where you're considerably more likely to use it. At nearly 25 inches long, it has enough reach to be genuinely useful, while the natural millet means every broom varies slightly in color and character. It's still a broom. It just doesn't need to be embarrassed about it.

PUEBCO has a habit of looking at things the rest of us have finished with and deciding they aren't finished yet. Founded in Japan in 2007, PUEBCO works with salvaged, recycled, and repurposed materials, including military tents, old uniforms, mail bags, truck upholstery, parachutes, and industrial fabrics, turning them into bags, clothing, rugs, storage, and objects for the home.
