Downpour Greeting Card

There are situations you can fix. There are others where you mostly need a decent raincoat.

Collin Williams illustrates the second kind beautifully, placing one tiny, appropriately dressed person beneath an enormous smiling cloud and what appears to be every available form of precipitation. It’s cheerful without pretending the rain isn’t happening, which makes Downpour especially good for encouragement, difficult stretches, fresh starts, or sending someone a little color when things feel unusually gray. There’s no grand solution hiding inside. Just a small reminder that sometimes getting through the weather is enough.

About the Designer:  Collin Williams

Collin Williams makes art about the increasingly radical idea that the world might actually be worth caring about. The Columbus, Ohio-based graphic designer and illustrator fills his work with big color, hand-drawn type, plants, people, community, queerness, and the small moments that make being alive less ridiculous. He calls the whole operation a “one-man band,” designs every product himself, and considers environmental impact from the objects to their packaging. Optimism can get suspiciously close to corny. Collin seems perfectly willing to take the risk.
