Desert Rose from Summer Solace Tallow avoids the whole perfume-counter version of the idea. Rose geranium and rose hydrosol meet orange blossom, cacao butter, vanilla, ambrette, and labdanum, creating something floral but also earthy, warm, resinous, and faintly chocolatey. Underneath all this olfactory complexity is an extremely useful bar of soap: regenerative tallow, A2/A2 dairy, fair-trade cacao butter, calendula, and French rose clay create a rich, creamy lather that cleanses the face, hands, body, or hair without leaving skin feeling stripped. The clay adds gentle exfoliation and gives each bar its naturally dusty-rose color, which can vary slightly because nature remains frustratingly unwilling to standardize its inventory. It smells beautiful, feels substantial, and makes washing your hands seem like a considerably more interesting activity than washing your hands has any right to be.
