An antelope is mostly curves until you try making one from a tree.
Hand-carved in South Africa from a single piece of Blue Gum, the Bush Buck reduces the animal to its most recognizable geometry: a narrow face, impossibly long horns, and just enough detail for your brain to supply the rest. The wood itself is an invasive eucalyptus whose removal helps protect native forests, giving an unwanted material a considerably better second career. Hang it indoors or let it weather outside. Blue Gum becomes more interesting with age, developing cracks, variation, and eventually a silvery gray patina rather than maintaining the suspicious perfection of something that never changes.

About the Brand: Unearthed Home Decor
Unearthed has found a useful answer to the question of what to do with a tree nobody particularly wants growing there. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Unearthed creates furniture and sculptural objects from natural materials, including Blue Gum eucalyptus. Considered invasive in South Africa, the wood is removed to help protect indigenous vegetation and then put into the hands of local craftspeople, who carve and shape it into objects designed to stick around considerably longer than the problem that produced them. The wood is allowed to behave like wood, too. It cracks, shifts, weathers, and develops character over time, making every piece increasingly its own.
