Burberry has historically understood restraint. This skirt appears to have negotiated an exception. A clean white cotton mini would have been perfectly respectable. Instead, Burberry runs a dark exposed zipper diagonally across the front and adds two more at the pockets, turning an otherwise minimal silhouette into something considerably sharper. The contrast hardware gives it a little industrial edge, while the 100% cotton construction and smooth cupro lining keep the actual wearing experience surprisingly uncomplicated. Made in Italy with a simple, unfussy back, it’s a very good example of what happens when classic design gets one slightly disruptive idea and commits to it.
