Archive NY’s Flora Napkins weave together stripes of light pink and bright green in a combination that manages to feel both cheerful and quite unexpected. Each is woven by hand by artisans in Xela, Guatemala, giving the cotton textile the subtle texture and variation that inevitably disappear when everything is made to look exactly the same. They’re colorful enough to wake up an otherwise sensible table, but simple enough to mix with mismatched dishes, old glassware, flowers from the yard, or whatever else happens to be involved in dinner.

About the Brand:  Archive NY

Archive NY started with the fairly reasonable concern that once a pattern disappears, you don't necessarily get it back. Founded in Brooklyn in 2014 and now based in Los Angeles, the woman-owned brand works with artisans in Guatemala, Mexico, and India to preserve traditional weaving and dyeing techniques at risk of disappearing. Rather than simply borrowing the look of historic textiles, Archive NY researches patterns, techniques, and regional craft traditions, then collaborates with skilled artisans who still know how to make them. The result is a collection that allows old techniques to keep doing something considerably more useful than sitting in an archive.
